It’s Autumn and here in the northern hemisphere the weather is changing, the sun is shining less and that means that there are less flowering blooms to be found outside. I have a solution with this flower paper cut picture you can make. It is a stylised bloom but it reminds me most of a dahlia.
All you will need to make a flower paper cut picture is:
colour or patterned paper
a picture frame
template dahliatemplate.pdf (65 downloads)
Here’s how to make this picture.
Place your template on top of some white card. Place both on top of a cutting mat.
Tape the template down to the mat to avoid movement.
Using a sharp craft knife, follow the lines of the template. You may need to go over the lines a few times to cut through the paper and card.
When finished push the ‘petal shapes’ up away from the back card to create the 3d effect.
Using a picture frame without glass or a box frame, place your flower paper cut card in the frame with a sheet of colour or patterned paper behind.
Hang on your wall or place on a desk and admire your flower paper cut picture!
